Last week, Wine Spectator magazine, that expert voice on wine and fine dining everywhere, presented an award of excellence to Osteria L'Intrepido of Milan, Italy. And this is news why?

Only because the restaurant doesn't exist. It's just a website with a menu and a wine list. And apparently, that may be all it takes to get on WS's list of excellence.

Reviewed: The 17th Annual NOWFE Grand Tasting

Posted by perle0 on 2008-05-26 21:41:58 (7339 views)

[Editorial]
[New Orleans]
Another year, another awesome Grand Tasting for the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience! This year, the Grand Tasting was held in a huge new venue...the Superdome. The event organizers had tons of extra room to play around with, and it showed in many ways. I can't say if this was the biggest NOWFE Grand Tasting ever, but it sure felt like it!

The Grand Tasting is the culmination of a five-day wine and food blow-out, and this one rose to the very high standards New Orleans has for both wine and food. More than 175 wineries from all over the world were represented, pouring an estimated 1000 wines. 75 of New Orleans' best restaurants provided samples of their finest cuisine, to make sure nobody got too tipsy. (They failed on that account in some cases, but did not fail to provide taste temptations sure to lure attendees to their regular kitchens for more.) In addition, there was constant live music, a Louisiana seafood cook-off of New Orleans' finest chefs, and even Mardi Gras floats and a Second Line parade to close things out.

Pontchartrain Vineyards, Louisiana’s premier producer of fine artisan wines in the classic French tradition, announces the line-up of performers for its Spring 2008 season of Jazz’n the Vines outdoor music concerts. This will be the ninth season of presenting the immensely popular Jazz’n the Vines concert series at the vineyards and winery, located north of Covington in northern St. Tammany Parish.

"We are altering the format of the series this year by having a Spring and Fall season of 6 concerts each in order to shoot for the best weather prospects of the year for enjoying the outdoors in South Louisiana," said John V. Seago, founder of the award-winning winery. "We will open up the season," he continued, "with 2 concerts in April, 3 in May, and 1 in June. We’ll break for the "heavy duty" summer months, which also is a time for a tremendous amount of work at the vineyard and winery, with most of the harvest and crush taking place in July and August. We will resume the fall season in late September, continue with 3 concerts in October, and conclude the series in early November."
