The Southern Breeze Wine + Culinary Festival, a traveling celebration of fine wine and fine dining, will be stopping in Baton Rouge, June 15-17th, to offer a spectacular wine dinner, a Grand Tasting of 150 wines from over 50 vineyards, and a Walkabout Brunch featuring local restaurants. Tickets are cheaper in advance, so get yours now if you plan to attend.

The fourth annual Southern Breeze Wine and Culinary Festival will be making its debut in Baton Rouge, LA, June 15-17, 2007. This spectacular event will take place on the historical Old State Capitol Building grounds in downtown Baton Rouge.

Friday, June 15, 7-10 p.m.
The Wine + Culinary Experience


Explore the ultimate pairing at The Wine + Culinary Experience at the Old Governor's Mansion. Indulge in the legendary Coastal Cuisine of Chef Tim Creehan of Beach Walk Crystal Beach in Destin, Fla. and the renowned Cajun-inspired cuisine of Chef John Folse of White Oak Plantation in Baton Rouge. Chefs Creehan and Folse will prepare a five-course gourmet affair artfully paired with elegant wines from prominent boutique wineries. Throughout the evening, Michael Bryan of the Atlanta Wine School will share his expertise on tasting and pairing fine wine with gourmet food while enhancing the enjoyment of both.

Saturday, June 16, 1-5 p.m.
Grand Wine Tasting


Guests can sample unique, boutique wines from around the world, which are not readily available in stores. Most wines will be available on site for purchase. Two expert wine seminars will be offered throughout the day presented by Michael Bryan, executive director of the Atlanta Wine School; as well as two culinary seminars by Chef Tim Creehan. Musical entertainment will be provided by In Harmony Jazz Quintet.

Six artists from the Baton Rouge Arts Market will display their works inspired by the wine and culinary theme of the event. The participating artists are:

Beatrix Bell - jeweler
Bruce Bond - wood worker
Christopher Fry - wood worker
Leslie Leonpacher - mixed media
Sherryl Lutz - potter
Edie Varnado - soap maker


Also on Saturday, the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge will host a special FREE children's activity day at the Shaw Center for the Arts corresponding with the Grand Wine Tasting and seminars. Kids will enjoy arts and crafts indoors with artists Lori Alexander and Anita Le Jeune while parents enjoy the Grand Wine Tasting next door at the Old State Capitol.

Sunday, June 17, 10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m
Walkabout Brunch

Also at the Old State Capitol Building. Guests can stroll the historic grounds and sample specialties from local restaurants as wine experts pour champagnes and sparkling wines to compliment each delicacy. Visitors will also have the opportunity to vote on the "People's Choice" award in a culinary competition judged by regional culinary experts including Tommy Simmons, food editor of the Advocate.

Entertainment provided by the John Gray Jazz Quartet.
