Add one more study to the ranks showing that moderate wine-drinking is good for you. But you already knew that, didn't you? This time, a study in Italy showed that light to moderate daily wine use helps to delay the onset of dementia, that milder form of forgetfulness and confusion that can continue down into Alzheimer's.

The study, published in the May 22 issue of the journal Neurology, found that those who had up to one drink of alcohol per day developed dementia at an 85% slower rate than people who never drank alcohol. Those who drank one to two drinks declined at a rate that was 53% slower. The rate was 56% slower in those who drank more than two drinks per day, when compared to abstainers. (The moral seems to be, have at least one glass of wine per day, and if you have two, have three.) Though the subjects of the study were reporting on all types of alcohol use, 85% of them reported that wine was their beverage of choice.

Although the results are not entirely conclusive, it's still a good way to support your daily glass. Now if you could only remember where you left your corkscrew....
