Its color is a deep inky purple, almost black, lightening to magenta at the very edges. It has a strong, fragrant nose of tar and eucalyptus, with maybe a hint of butterscotch. The flavor is incredibly concentrated--the term "jammy" was invented for wines like this. It almost reminds me of blackberry pancake syrup, if you could take 95% of the sweetness away from that. To go with its thick taste, it has a medium body, much thicker than your usual non-dessert wine. Its high alcohol content gives it great legs, but this is well balanced out by the powerful flavor. A glass of this is almost a meal.
