Black-ruby color; nuance of caramel hinting at superb
extraction; black currant, anise, wonderful melange of old
and new world; sublety of classic Bordeaux with a hint of
the prototypical CA-cab forwardness; excellent balance,
spectacular, yet seemingly fragile; in comparison to the
1999, I felt the 1997 might be less consistent - both the 97
and 99 vintages were similar but the nod is to the 1999.
