Notes
-----
I now understand what Parker says when he claims Beaucastel
almost deserves its own appellation. It really is unlike any
other CdP I've had. Color was candy apple red with slight
amber edge. Nose of eucalyptus, menthol, camphor, with a
hint of straw. The Mourvedre seemed to be a huge bully here,
overshadowing any of the other more subtle nuances of the
other grape varieties. Medium-bodied, nicely balanced with
very soft tannins. Nice 30s finish that revealed a hint of
plum. 89-90 (my "first impression" with limited experience
with Beaucastel)

Production Notes
----------------
The 500-year-old vineyards at Beaucastel are treated without
chemical fertilizers, herbicides or systemic pesticides. All
thirteen grape varietals of CdP are planted, with
Mourvedre, Grenache, Counoise, Syrah and Cinsault
predominant. Each varietal is harvested and vinified
separately. The final blend is a stunning wine, very opaque
ruby/black in color, with a melange of aromas, complex
layers of flavor, with spicy character and richness. The
Perrin brothers carry on the family tradition of making as
natural a wine as possible.
