WINE =======: 2002 Marco Negri Moscato d’Asti AOC : Asti Tasting Date: 2004-05-29 Varietal : Moscato Score : 91 Country : Italy State : Piedmont Notes ----- This very light-yellow straw-colored wine is basically a dessert wine, but reviewers suggest that it would pair well with spicy foods. It is sweet, but also very light, with a good bit of citrus that lifts the sweetness. Even better, it has a hint of effervesence...not anywhere near as much as a true sparkling wine, but noticeable. The bubbles were very fine, and combined with the sweetness and citrus tones to create a very crisp wash of flavor, with a nice mouth feel--extremely refreshing. I feel that I could drink this all day, and I'd like to try that sometime. I enjoyed this wine VERY MUCH. Additional Notes ---------------- This was absolutely my favorite wine from the entire Grand Tasting of the 2004 New Orleans Food and Wine Experience. (This probably says far too much about the sophistication of my tastes, but hey, you like what you like.) It's also available in half-bottles, which may be a good idea since the fizz probably does not keep well once opened. Serve chilled.
