Chateau/Producer: | Quady | Wine Name: | Red Electra | Country: | USA | State: | California | Wine Score: | 75 | Notes: | This is a red, sweet wine, good for desserts or for people who don't like real wine. It's also low in alcohol at 5%. The color is a lovely cherry red, and the scent is light and fruity.
I'd been holding off on trying this wine; it is low-priced, and that gave me pause. It's not bad, but it does definitely give me flashbacks to those Boone's Farm college days. It's kind of like a more refined Boone's Farm--sweet and fruity, but without the noxious chemical tastes that seem to go along with the super-cheap, super-fruity wine made for kids trying to stomach alcohol early on. It is quite drinkable, like a wine-flavored cherry kool-aid. If you truly love fine wine, you will hate this stuff. If you're on the fence, or willing to think of this as more like a wine cooler, it's not half bad.
Or maybe I'm just more used to the sweet white wines. | Tasting Date: | 2004-08-02 | Varietal: | muscat | Price US$: | 10.39 | Source: | Calandro's Supermarket |
