Chateau/Producer: | Oremus | Wine Name: | Tokaji Aszu 5 Puttanyos | Country: | Hungary | Region: | Tokaji | Wine Score: | 95 | Notes: | This Hungarian dessert wine is traditionally bottled in 500ml bottles. This one is good quality, with a light amber color. The scent is not very strong, but very rich, like a fruit-flavored syrup. The wine is not thick at all, basically the same as regular wine in feel, and while it is sweet, it is not as sweet as a lot of dessert wines. It has a lot of fruit, and a rich and complex flavor featuring lots of peach and apricot, maybe a hint of brandy flavor, with a nicely understated acidity. This is a great wine for someone who wants a bit less sweetness in a dessert wine, or who enjoys one with strong fruit elements. It has a fairly long finish for a dessert wine. | Tasting Date: | 2004-08-10 | Varietal: | Furmint | Price US$: | 35.00 | Source: | Dorignac's, Metairie, LA |
