Chateau/Producer: | Valckenberg | Wine Name: | Madonna Liebfraumilch Spatlese | Country: | Germany | State: | Rheinhessen | AOC: | Qualitatswein mit Pradikat | Region: | Worms | Wine Score: | 83 | Notes: | This is probably a pretty decent wine, but it's not a type that I'm particularly fond of, and I don't have a lot to compare it to. It's a bit sweet, as a spatlese should be, but it has a lot of acidity. I find that the citrusy acids overpower the sweetness, but if that's what you want in a white wine, this one's got it. The color is a nice pale yellow, and the scent is very light, just a hint of citrus. I like that it's from Worms. Worms has a really great Romanesque cathedral, which was host to the famous (infamous?) Diet of Worms. | Tasting Date: | 2004-08-19 | Varietal: | Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, Kerner | Production Notes: | I got this in a tiny quarter-bottle (187 ml) with a screwtop, just to try it out. It's a good size for a trial. | Price US$: | 3.99 | Source: | Calandro's, Baton Rouge, Govt. St. |
