Chateau/Producer: | Laurel Glen | Wine Name: | Terra Rosa Cabernet Sauvignon | Country: | Argentina | Region: | Mendoza | Wine Score: | 86 | Notes: | This wine is a great everyday drinking wine with a fine QPR (Quality/Price Ratio). Its color is a lovely clear ruby, so dark it is almost purple. It has a very fragrant scent, with a strong element of cocoa. With hints of cherry and blackberry, it has a good bit of acidity and definite tannins, but the acidity dominates a bit. | Tasting Date: | 2004-09-12 | Varietal: | cabernet sauvignon | Production Notes: | Terra Rosa is bottled in two varieties, one from Chilean vinyards and one from Argentina. The 2002 vintage will be bottled with a screwcap. | Additional Notes: | I found this wine when dining at Irene's Cuisine, a great restaurant in the French Quarter. We were on a budget, and ordered the cheapest red wine on the list. It tasted like it, too. The waiter suggested Terra Rosa, only a few dollars more than the first wine, but much, much better. This was a 1999 Chilean version, but I've never been disappointed by this wine. | Price US$: | 9.99 | Source: | Martin's Wine Cellar, Baton Rouge |
