Chateau/Producer: | Santa Julia | Wine Name: | Tardio | Country: | Argentina | State: | Mendoza | Region: | Mendoza | Wine Score: | 85 | Notes: | This is a late-harvest sweet wine, but it's not as sweet as I'd like a dessert wine to be. The color is a very clear and brilliant golden yellow. The aroma is light, with tones of honey and apricot. The body has a nice medium-thick mouth feel. When I first opened it, I found it to be rather acidic, and had an almost bitter hint to it. The second day, it had mellowed out a bit and was more drinkable. Sweet, but not extremely sweet, it has a strong acid component that overpowers at first. That hint of bitterness is still there. Overall I'd say that it would be appealing to people who prefer a medium-sweet dessert wine with lots of acidity, at a decent price--around $10 for a half-liter bottle. | Tasting Date: | 2004-11-07 | Varietal: | Torrontes | Additional Notes: | Residual sugar 110 grams/liter. | Price US$: | 9.99 | Source: | Marcello's, Baton Rouge |
