| Chateau/Producer: | Staatsweingut mit Johannitergut | | Wine Name: | Mussbacher Eselhaut Huxelrebe Trockenbeerenauslese | | Country: | Germany | | State: | Rhineland-Pfalz | | AOC: | QmP | | Region: | Pfalz, Mossbach | | Wine Score: | 97 | | Notes: | This was an incredible wine. It was a rich golden brown in color, amber-colored, and smelled of honey and apricots. The flavor was very rich and delicious, very sweet but nicely complex and well-balanced. Notes of honey, apricots, and peaches predominated. This was easily the best wine of its kind that I've had, and it was a great deal to boot--if you don't factor in the plane ticket. | | Tasting Date: | 2004-10-24 | | Varietal: | Huxelrebe | | Additional Notes: | This wine won a "Goldene Kammerpreismuenze" gold medal in 1994. They do not seem to give these out lightly in Germany. | | Price US$: | 20.00 | | Source: | Staatsweingut, Neustadt-Mussbach, Germany |
