| Chateau/Producer: | Staatsweingut mit Johannitergut | | Wine Name: | Mussbacher Glockenzehnt Riesling Eiswien | | Country: | Germany | | State: | Rhineland-Pfalz | | AOC: | QmP | | Region: | Pfalz, Mussbach | | Wine Score: | 96 | | Notes: | This was a very tasty wine, ranking very high on my list of icewines. The cork crumbled very nastily, but the wine was sound. It was a lovely golden light-amber color. The nose was a rich scent of honey, apricot, and peaches. The wine was intensely sweet, with a nice tang of acid to counterbalance, and flavors of honey, peach, apricot, tangerine, and dried fruits. It had a nice, long, sweet-lemony finish. It had maybe a hint of sharpness, like the bitter part of a lemon peel. This was a great wine experience. | | Tasting Date: | 2004-10-28 | | Varietal: | Riesling | | Additional Notes: | This wine won a silver medal at the 2000 Landespraemierung. | | Price US$: | 30.00 | | Source: | Staatsweingut, Neustadt-Mussbach, Germany |
