WINE =======: 0 Chambers Rosewood Vineyards Rutherglen Muscadelle (Tokay) Tasting Date: 2004-11-23 Varietal : Tokay Score : 85 Country : Australia State : Victoria Region : Rutherglen Notes ----- This is interesting...not like most of the dessert wines I've tasted. The color surprised me; I was expecting golden, but it was more of a dark, pure amber. The scent wasn't very strong, but distinctive, with a smell of brandied peaches. The mouth-feel is a bit syrupy, not unpleasant, but with a glycerin after-feel. The flavor is rich and sweet, with a strong dried-fruit component. It reminds me of raisins. There is a strong, distinct sting of alcohol, like you get with brandy, that rather overpowers the flavors. (Whew! 18.5% alcohol...no wonder.) I would say that this is a perfectly decent dessert wine, but not among the best. The makers claim that the wine will keep for months, if corked, which would give it an advantage for one-glass-a-day sippers.
