| Chateau/Producer: | Benedict-Loosen-Erben | | Wine Name: | Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Auslese *** | | Country: | Germany | | State: | Mosel-Saar-Ruwer | | AOC: | Qualitaetswein mit Praedikat | | Region: | Ürzig (Mosel) | | Wine Score: | 90 | | Notes: | The color is a lovely straw, with just a hint of spring green. The nose is very light, but pleasantly sweet and citrusy. The flavor is very nice, lightly sweet and well-balanced by a nice level of acidity--not overbearing, but just right. The main fruit flavors are citrusy, but light; to me, it tastes of pineapple--more like canned pineapple than fresh, with the more subdued acidity. This wine has a rather long and pleasing finish. I can see why it was granted three stars! And the long aging seems to have done it nothing but good. A very nice wine for anyone who enjoys a white wine with a touch of sweetness that is not cloying or overdone. | | Tasting Date: | 2005-01-02 | | Varietal: | Riesling | | Price US$: | 36.99 | | Source: | gift |
