Chateau/Producer: | Provenance Vineyards | Wine Name: | Rutherford Cabernet | Country: | USA | State: | California | AOC: | Napa | Wine Score: | 91 | Notes: | Ruby to purple in color with no traces of aging at the edge. Nose of earth and medicinal herbs with an alcoholic presence. This is a fruit bomb wine without the comparable tannins to back it up and turn it into a great wine. There is a noticeable finish but this wine has an alcoholic tinge that seems to take away from the crispness that I feel would be necessary to catapult this wine into a superior ranking. Maybe the wine is closing down? I have had other wines from this vineyard that had more of a backbone than this one. Nonetheless, this is a hefty, full-bodied cabernet that I wish had more barrel aging. | Tasting Date: | 2005-02-02 | Varietal: | Cabernet Sauvignon | Source: | K&L, San Francisco |
