Chateau/Producer: | Barwang | Wine Name: | Riverina Gold Botrytis Semillon | Country: | Australia | State: | New South Wales | Region: | Riverina | Wine Score: | 83 | Notes: | The color is a lovely golden caramel, sort of a light amber. The nose is quite light, at first with a strong scent of banana that mercifully vanished after a minute or so of breathing, to be replaced by a sweet orange scent with a touch of honey. The flavor has a sharp, alcoholic bite overlying the other flavors, toning down to mostly sweet orange and apricot flavors, with a bit of honey flavor. The finish lingers lightly for a while, with a taste that is oddly rich dark--I would say burnt sugar and raisins.
This is a pleasant little wine, especially for the price. It would be a good choice for someone who needs an "everyday drinker" dessert wine. | Tasting Date: | 2005-04-23 | Varietal: | Semillon | Price US$: | 9.99 | Source: | Marcello's, Baton Rouge, LA |
