Chateau/Producer: | San Felice | Wine Name: | Vin Santo del Chianti Classico | Country: | Italy | State: | Tuscany | AOC: | Vin Santo | Region: | Siena | Wine Score: | 85 | Notes: | I believe that this was a good example of a Vin Santo, but tasting this confirmed for me that I don't really care too much for Vin Santo. For a dessert wine, I want something sweeter. Its color was pale gold, and it had a wonderful nose of strong honey, with brown sugar, and a hint of peach. I found that the burn of alcohol masked the more subtle flavors, and I definitely wanted more sweetness than there was--though that has been my experience so far with these wines, so that's more my preference than any sort of flaw. The price listed is for a half-bottle. | Tasting Date: | 2005-05-05 | Varietal: | Trebbiano, Malvasia | Production Notes: | Trebbiano 75%, Malvasia 25%.
