| Chateau/Producer: | Eagle Castle | | Wine Name: | Late Harvest Viognier Paso Robles | | Country: | USA | | State: | California | | AOC: | Paso Robles | | Region: | Paso Robles | | Wine Score: | 87 | | Notes: | This is the wine I drank while waiting for Hurricane Katrina to finish pounding Baton Rouge. The color (as best I could tell by electric lantern) is a pretty pale yellow-gold. It has a nice medium-strength nose of dried pineapple, with a hint of banana. The flavor is good, sweet but not too sweet, with a nice level of citrusy acidity. It has medium body, and is a bit hot with alcohol. There are flavors of pineapple, lemon, orange, a hint of banana, and a dash of bitterness. Generally, this was a pretty good little dessert wine to sip on while waiting for the power to come back on. (It would be rather a long wait, as it turns out.) | | Tasting Date: | 2005-08-29 | | Varietal: | Viognier | | Source: | Calandro's Perkins Road |
