WINE =======: 1998 M. Chapoutier La Sizeranne Hermitage AOC : Hermitage Tasting Date: 2006-02-27 Varietal : Syrah Score : 87 Country : France State : Rhone Region : Hermitage Notes ----- I know, I know. This is supposed to be a really impressive wine, especially at that price. But it just wasn't to my taste. The color was a lovely red brick, fading to orange at the edges. The nose is medium strength, black cherries and raspberries. This wine had, to me, a lot of tannins. Even giving it an hour and a half to breathe, the tannins were still overpowering. You could tell there was good flavor underneath, if the tannins would ever let it out. If you like your wine with a bit of a tannic edge, this would be perfect for you.
