WINE =======: 1990 Duhart-Milion Tasting Date: 2003-08-03 Score : 88 Notes ----- Deep purple color fading to orange with a tinge of brown at the edges. Plum, smoky cedar, pencil shavings, rich dark cherry bouquet - the fruit is clearly ahead of the oak. Rich and fruity with the sweet fruit overtaking the tannins at first. My impression of Lafites at this point is upon initially opening the bottles, the fruit leaps out, then after breathing a bit, the new oak slowly envelops the dark sweet fruits; the degree of which is what I now begin to evaluate. After some time, this wine reveals its beautiful balance. Again, not mind blowing (in the 1cru state of things) but nonetheless a brilliant effort and clearly worthy.
