Dark purple color; nose of menthol smoke, finely-ground
pepper, straw, plums and subdued dark fruits. Medium to
full-bodied. Very tannic wine with some of the fruit hiding
a bit. This wine may be in the process of closing down or it
may be indicative of the 1999 vintage being inferior to the
98 and 97. However, I feel this wine will become
dramatically better with more aging.
