WINE =======: 2000 Lynch-Bages Grand Cru Classee Pauillac AOC : Pauillac Tasting Date: 2005-01-01 Varietal : 71%Cab sauv, 16%Merlot, 11%Cab franc, 2%Pet Ver Score : 93 Country : France State : Bordeaux Region : Pauillac Notes ----- The color is a clear, bricky red, slightly paler at the edges. The nose is on the light side, with raspberry, blackberry, and plum, with hints of chocolate and leather. The flavor is nice, rather dense, with good berry fruit flavors and a healthy structure of tannins. I tasted this wine after it had had a day or two to breathe, which helped. It had loads of tannins on opening, and was still on the tannic side after this long breathing space, but not in a bad way. It could definitely use some maturing, or if you must drink it now, lots and lots of time to breathe. Still, I quite liked it. You can tell that it will be very well-balanced when it matures, and it has a pleasant, long finish. Production Notes ---------------- For statisticians, it is a blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot aged in 70% new French oak.
