Once the realm of cheap and nasty blended wines, wine-in-a-box is becoming more popular as it becomes available in higher-quality versions.
It's a good idea--since the boxes have no corks, there's no chance of cork taint. And because the wine has little exposure to oxygen even after you open it, the wine keeps much longer than an open bottle--some say as long as a month. |
| On the negative side, if you have trouble finishing off a bottle, imagine how long it might take you to finish off a box with the equivalent of 4 bottles in it. I'm waiting for the juice-box size. Look, the Europeans have beat us to it already!
If I could just find some of these incredibly delicious, high-quality boxed wines, I'd be willing to try them. When is Robert Parker going to review them?
