 It's that time of year again...time to start making plans for the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience (NOWFE). If you're interested in volunteering, better hurry...applications are due by May 1. Volunteer for two shifts, and you can earn a ticket to the Grand Tasting! It's a perfect opportunity for the wine lover on a budget.
So what is NOWFE, you ask?
It's simple. NOWFE is an annual 5-day experience celebrating New Orleans, wine, and food. You can participate in the whole thing, or just pick a few events to attend. |

There are Vintner Dinners at fine restaurants around the city (yes, there are still plenty left!) on Wednesday, the Royal Street Stroll on Thursday, Seminars Thursday-Saturday, Grand Tastings (pictured above) on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, and a Champagne Brunch on Sunday. The whole thing takes place on Memorial Day Weekend, from May 24-May 27, 2006.
This event is not to be missed. It's a great opportunity to experience wine and the perfect accompanying food, while taking in some of the charm of New Orleans. Events are centered around the French Quarter and the Central Business District, both of which were largely untouched by She Who Must Not Be Named while talking about good times.
Make your arrangements now. Seminars, Vintner Dinners, and the Royal Street Stroll sell out quickly, and hotel rooms could possibly be less abundant than usual. Help New Orleans recover while helping yourself to pass a good time, the way we've always done it down here. |
NOWFE is a non-profit organization. 2005 proceeds benefited the Louisiana Restaurant Association's School-to-Career Program, a mentoring curriculum serving Louisiana's young people who are interested in restaurant careers, and the University of New Orleans School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism, which prepares HRT graduates to become leaders in Louisiana's hospitality industry. |
