Wine Glasses for Sharing

It's always nice to share a couple of glasses of wine with a friend. But how much can you really share? Designer Jim Rokos has come up with a pair of wine glasses that ensure that you and your drinking partner truly appreciate the wonders of sharing.

The "My Other Half" glasses are connected at the stem by a length of rubber tubing, so the wine essentially fills both glasses at the same time. If one drinker selfishly raises a glass without his partner, the wine seeks the lower level of the other glass, and vice versa. The only way to enjoy a sip of wine is if both drinkers lift their glasses and drink at the same time. (Presumably, a really desperate wino could lower his own glass and take a big slurp from the full glass, but it would look pretty weird, and this behavior would be highly visible to the other person. No sneaking more than your fair share!)

This witty commentary on the nature of a shared beverage can be purchased for a mere 220 pounds ($440 US). When you think of the hours of fun you can have demonstrating these unique wine glasses--and the power of cooperation--it almost seems worth it. I think they should get a few of these for state dinners at the White House, and summits at Camp David. We'd have peace in the Middle East in no time!

A demonstration.
