Build Your Own Wine Bottle Tree!

You like to drink wine. You drink a lot of wine. Of course you do; it tastes good! But what do you do with all those empty bottles? You could always recycle them...that's good for the Earth. Or you could make them into gorgeous wine bottle lamps. Or you could make a house out of them.

But if you want to do something wacky and decorative, with absolutely no practical value at all (but pretty), and simple enough for anyone with brute strength and zero crafts ability...try a wine bottle tree!

That's right, a wine bottle tree. Essentially, take a big pole, hammer big nails into pole, then stand pole upright in properly-sized hole. Add wine bottles. (See the photo above...you can just see one of the nails inside a green bottle.)

I recommend waiting until you have all, or at least most, of the bottles ready to go before beginning construction. The last thing you want is an ugly pole full of slowly rusting nails, waiting for you to drink enough to make it beautiful.

Your friends can pitch in, too, by bringing you especially nice bottles...or if you're lucky, wine.
