| Chateau/Producer: | Moulin-Tacussel | | Wine Name: | Chateauneuf du Pape | | Country: | France | | State: | Rhone | | AOC: | Chateauneuf du Pape | | Region: | Chateauneuf du Pape | | Wine Score: | 90 | | Notes: | The wine's color is very nice, with a clear ruby at the center, but fading to a more bricky red and quite pale at the edges. The nose is light, but very rich, mainly fruity, with black cherry, creme de cassis, and a hint of pencil shavings. The wine itself is chock-full of tannins, very smooth ones, but also quite powerful still. The fruit is somewhat subdued by the tannins, but given a little time to breathe, a strong cherry flavor comes through. Overall this wine is quite good, but not a stunner. It's hard to say whether it needs a bit more age, or if it is getting past its prime. | | Tasting Date: | 2005-07-10 | | Varietal: | Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre | | Production Notes: | 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 7% Mourv |
